THE INTERUNIVERSITIES RESEARCH CENTER
SteEring, (acronym of "Interuniversity Center for Statistics for Engineering: Design, Quality and Reliability") is an Interuniversity Research Center established pursuant to art. 90 Presidential Decree 382/80 which promotes scientific collaboration between the various Universities and research centers or inter-university service centers.
SteEring's mission is to promote and spread the knowledge and use of statistical tools in the engineering field with particular reference to the business world and to support companies. The Center, through its skills and numerical-experimental skills, is able to develop solutions tailored to the specific needs of the customer.
SteEring is attended by Italian Universities, through its own Departments, with its Professors and Researchers and Research Laboratories. The Center has its own administrative headquarters at the Department of Statistics, Informatics, Applications of the University of Florence. The activities of the Center are carried out at the offices of the participating Universities according to the skills required by the specific projects.

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES
At SteEring all the skills necessary for the development and implementation of theoretical-modeling solutions are available (Monte-Carlo, error propagation, design of experiment, method of moments, statistical interference, etc.) for "Probabilistic Design" and in general for the prediction of the effects associated with random variability. At the Center it is possible to plan and carry out targeted experimentation to support qualification and certification.
